William A. 'Bill' Ries

William "Bill" A. Ries William "Bill" A. Ries, age 62, of Toledo, passed away April 23, 2011, at home. Bill was born October 15, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, to Norman and Esther (Reichle) Ries. Bill was a 1966 graduate of E. L. Bowsher High School. He was a conductor for Norfolk and Southern Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 2009. Bill was an avid collector and restorer of antique telephones and was also an active member of the Toledo Sailing Club. Bill is survived by his wife Deborah Karl, son Brian (Chris) Ries, grandsons Collin Ries, Deven, Dylan, and Drew Elston, sister Anita (Mark Kowalkowski) Lilburn, and half-brothers Ronald (Fran) Osborne and Eugene (Shirley) Leep. A memorial gathering to celebrate Bill's life will be held at the Toledo Yacht Club in Bayview Park, 3900 Summit St, Toledo, from 4 - 7 pm on Saturday, April 30. The family suggests memorials be directed to Colorectal Research via the American Cancer Society website www.cancer.org.
