Viola A Barrett Viola Barrett of Pine Island Florida/Chatsworth Calfornia passed away on January 26, 2015. She was born May 27, 1923 in Butte Montana to Ruth Retner and Louey Jackson Mast. She was relocated to Barberton Ohio where she attended high school, then to Toledo Ohio attending the University of Toledo. Viola was employed at the Ohio Bell Telephone Company for 30 years, advancing from a long distance operator in Toledo to a Marketing Manager in Cleveland and retiring in September 1982. After retirement she was a secretary to attorney Thomas J. Osowik in Toledo for 3 years. While raising her four children in Toledo she was a Girl Scout leader, and taught bible school at the Pilgrim Congregational church. All who knew her were touched by her devotion to her children and the support of their activities. Viola was a member of the Fishers of Men Lutheran Church of Pine Island, life member of VFW aux 4353, American Legion aux 136, women of the Moose, Tribune Chapter 344 Eastern Star and served many years as president of the Greater Pine Island Lions Club. Viola is preceded in death by her beloved children, son Frankie 19 yrs., and daughter Jerrilyn age 63. She is survived by her son Paul (Barbara) in California and daughter Jacqueline (Wayne; deceased) in Ohio, eight grandchildren, eleven great grand children, and seven great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd on Monday February 2, 2015 after 10:00 a.m. where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow immediately at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
