Samuel A. Dedes, 75, of Toledo, Ohio passed away after a brief illness on November 22, 2016 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio (Toledo Campus). Sam was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 7, 1941. His parents were Alex D. and Christina (Katsakos) Dedes. Sam was a graduate of Bowsher High School and worked for the Toledo Blade as a plant engineer, eventually retiring due to a disability. Sam was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where he sang in the choir, worked the Greek Festival for many years, and was a member of the Young At Heart. A 32 degree mason, Sam was an active member of the Damascus/ Collingwood Masonic lodge. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Sam A. Dedes, and sisters, Flossie A. Dedes and Pauline A. Dedes. He is survived by his brother, George A. Dedes (Mary), and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. at Byrne Road, on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. with Trisagion services at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
