Ruth Crom Keesey

Ruth C. Keesey Ruth C. Keesey, a resident of West Park Place, died September 11, 2013 at the age of 90, at the Ebeid Hospice Residence. Ruth was born July 21, 1923 to Charles and Alice Crom. She was a graduate of Clay High School and attended Stautzenberger Business School; and the University of Toledo. She was married to William C. Sawders in 1943. Bill died in 1983. In 1985 she married Samuel F. Keesey who died in 2003. Ruth worked for the Bureau of Internal Revenue and as a Welcome Wagon Hostess. She was employed as a Material Co-coordinator at the Chevrolet Motor Division (GM Powertrain), from which she retired in 1980 She was one of the first women employed in that capacity. She was an active member of Collingwood and Monroe Street United Methodist Churches. She served her worship communities as President of the Women's Society of Christian Service, as a choir member, and as a Stephen Minister of eight years. She was a volunteer for the Reach to Recovery Program of the American Society, and also volunteered at the Toledo Hospital for thirteen years. Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents and sister Dorothy Kiggins. She is survived by her daughter Lynne A (Thomas) McClure, stepsons Robert Keesey and Mark (Karen) Keesey, grandchildren, Jennifer (Rachel) McClure, Robert (Katelyn) McClure, Justin and Dana Keesey, Kirsten, Rachel and Alison Keesey, and great grandson William "Liam" Vail-McClure. Friends will be received at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd on Sunday September 15, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. in Monroe Street United Methodist Church 3613 Monroe St on Monday September 16, 2013 where the family will received friends after 9:30 A.M.
