Ronald S Kilell

Ronald S. Kilell, 76 of Maumee, Ohio, The heavens opened their arms to receive our gentle giant of a man on May 16, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Ron was a Toledo native and graduated Libbey High School class of 1957. Left to cherish his memory is his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 56 years Joan, two loving daughters Lisa Reagan (Michael), Linda Merkle Ramlow (Richard) and two special grandchildren, Joshua Merkle, and Kathryn Reagan affectionately known to them as "Baka". He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Zinneb and step sister Grace and step brother Paul. Ron was a US Navy veteran and retired from the railroad after 30 years as a train master and block operator. Before joining the railroad he owned and operated "Sams Cafe" previously on the corner of South and Broadway. He was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, serving on council and promoting the missionary program there. He was an avid golfer and a member of Heatherdowns Country Club for over 25 years and member of Brandywine CC. He enjoyed playing cards with his buddies at Brandywine and loved playing golf at area golf courses with all his ole' golfing buddies. He and wife Joan traveled and played golf courses across the US. He was proud of his 13 (witnessed) "hole in ones" and the "Jan Taylor" husband and wife tournament he and Joan won at Sylvania CC in 1989. The family will receive friends Saturday May 30, 2015 after 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church 1853 South Ave Toledo, Ohio where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the missionary program at Bethel which Ron believed so strongly or American Cancer Society or St Francis de Sales High School.
