Robinson E. "Bob" Cope Robinson E. "Bob" Cope age 90 of Monclova, Twp. passed away December 12, 2013 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg. Robinson was born June 5, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio the only child of Edward L. and Katherine (Meinert) Cope. The Cope family moved to Harvard Blvd. in March 1924 and Bob lived there until June of 2000 when he moved to Monclova Twp. Robinson graduated from Harvard School 1937, Libbey High School 1941, and attended the University of Toledo for 1 year. Robinson served 3 years in the U.S Army Air Corp in the Weather Squadron. Thirteen months were spent in the China-Burma-India Theater. While in the Army he attended The University of Virginia for 1 year. After an Honorable Discharge he enrolled at The Ohio State University and graduated with a BSBA in Business in 1947. While at OSU Robinson joined Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma business honorary and Beta Alpha Psi accounting honorary. In 1952 he became a Certified Public Accountant in Ohio. He was employed by Arthur Young & Co. 1948-51, The Electric Auto-Lite Company as Manager of Internal Auditing 1951-58, and Storer Communications Company as controller of WSPD Radio and WTVG-TV Channel 13 retiring in 1984 after 26 year's service. Bob was a member of First Congregational Church and past member of Park Congregational Church. Bob was a member of The China-Burma-India Veterans Association-Toledo Basha Vernon McCune Post 132 American Legion. Bob was a member of the Sylvania-Pyramid Lodge# 287, Scottish Rite and the Zenobia Shrine, The Ohio State Alumni Association as a rabid Buckeye football fan he purchased season tickets for years. In addition "Bob" served as member of the Lucas County Republican Central Committee for over 30 years. He was an active swimmer and belonged to the Laurel Hill Swim and Tennis Club for many years. Robinson was also an avid Boater owning power and sail boats and belonging to the Maumee River Yacht Club and Toledo Sailing Club for years. His interest in the water started as a Child at his parent's cottage at Clear Lake Indiana. Genealogy was his hobby and he was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), Ohio Genealogical Society and First Families of Ohio. Surviving are three cousins Charles Meinert, Delmar, NY, Marilyn Rothschild, Castle Rock CO, and Susie Broyhill, Arlington VA. A graveside service will be held on Friday March 28, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to First Congregational Church or the Shriner's Hospital.
