Rita June Sorgenfrei

Rita June Sorgenfrei, 97, formerly of Maumee, Ohio passed away on her 97th birthday in The Elizabeth Scott Community. She was born January 21, 1921 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to Joseph and Nina (Jacobs) Zeller. Rita was a professional ball room dancer for many years thru the Arthur Murray Dance Studios teaching at various studios in New York, Ohio, Evanston, Ill. Rita meet her future husband thru the Arthur Murray Studios. Rita worked for the Metro Parks as a guide at the Manor House and in the gift shop. Rita also volunteered at The Franciscan Life Center selling tickets. Rita was active member of St. Petri Lutheran Church Altar Guild, Esther Circle, Ladies Aid Society, The Toledo Women's Club and St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Marty R Sorgenfrei, her parents, brothers, Dr. James Zeller, Bill Zeller, sister, Donna Zeller Smith. Rita is survived by her caregivers, Beth (Earl) Emery, Matt (Vangi) Sorgenfrei, Judy (John) Hirzel, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday January 7, 2018 at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns at Byrne Road 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church 3120 S. Byrne Rd. The family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
