Richard Jacob 'Dick Or Red' Leggett

Richard Jacob Leggett, 89 of Sylvania, Ohio formerly of Toledo, Ohio passed away May 30, 2017 in the ProMedica Goerlich Center surrounded by his family. Richard was born on July 14, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to Gray and Dora (Hoffman) Leggett. Richard graduated from Libbey High School, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Bairoko CVE-115 and then worked for LOF for 31 years retiring in 1979. Richard was known as Dick or Red to his friends. He loved to play cards, listen to old records, long car rides, fishing at Bird Lake, watch the Detroit Tigers, drink PBR and tell jokes. After his retirement he had many part time jobs and made his family his first priority. While living at Goerlich, going out for a cheeseburger and a beer got you a thumbs up and a smile. Richard was preceded in death by his first wife Arlene, parents and sister Ramona Flack. Surviving are his loving wife Ruth, daughters, Sherry (Larry) Kerstetter, Cathy (John) Thomas, Robbin (Keith) Williams, amazing son Richard (Lisa), grandchildren; Angela (Duane), John, Jim, Tyler, Haley, Arlena, Allison, great grandchildren; Addison and Alexandria. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of the ProMedica Goerlich Center for the wonderful care and to Dr. Huttner. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association N.W.O, the Parkinson's Foundation of N.W.O. or to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.
