Michael J. Kijowski Michael J. Kijowski, 62 of Toledo, Ohio passed away suddenly April 29, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born on April 18, 1953 in Toledo, Ohio to Chester and Virginia (Pietrykowski) Kijowski. Mike was a graduate of St. John's Jesuit High School and attended The University of Toledo. For 38 years, Mike worked as a journeyman electrician for IBEW Local 8 as an inside wireman. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Virginia Kijowski. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rita (Gassner) Kijowski; their sons, Robby and Steve Kijowski; sister, Amy (Ron) Gross; in-laws Jakob and Theresia Gassner; brother-in-law Jakob (Vickie) Gassner Jr; and many nieces and nephews. Mike was a wonderful, talented man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mike had a passion for boating, building two of his own boats, replacing the transom in his 27 ft. Pacemaker, and owning over a dozen other boats. He excelled in designing and building projects, doing anything with his two hands, and he especially enjoyed the mental challenge of figuring something out, the more complex, the better. Mike's very favorite activity was spending time with his family "burning" steaks. Family and friends may visit at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. (at Byrne Rd.), Friday, May 8, 2015, 2-8 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at the mortuary on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10:15 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions in Mike's honor may do so to the charity of their choice.
