Marie M Schlapman

Marie M. Schlapman, 90, passed on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Lakes of Monclova. Marie was born October 29, 1926, to Rudolph and Gladys Kreft. Marie was a lifelong resident of South Toledo, attended Libbey High School, wife to Melvin for 52 years, mother of 3, former TPS PTA Mom, member of the Rebekah's, and a 60 year member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church where she was known for her sauerkraut suppers. Marie had a giving heart, a strong-willed spirit, and a never-ending love for her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "Grams". Marie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Kreft; sister, Betty Spratt; loving husband, Melvin; son, Mark, and grandaughter, Kelly Schlapman. Marie is survived by her son, Mike (Donna); daughter, Mitzie; grandchildren, Christine (Randy) Varwig, Herb (Kelly) Milem, Michael Schlapman, Matthew (Justina) Schlapman, Stephanie (Randy) Grant; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Varwig, Tyler, Conor, Zoey, and Riley Schlapman, Lauren and Audrey Milem, and Emma Grant; great-great-grandchild, Lilian Marie Varwig; sister, Shirley Bast, along with a host of nephews and nieces. Funeral services for Marie will be held on Tuesday, January 17th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, 745 Walbridge Ave., Toledo, OH with Pastor Martin Billmeier officiating, where the family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
