Marcelene J. Butler

Marcelene June Butler joined her Savior and Lord while surrounded by her family on Christmas Day. Marcelene Conley was born on June 29, 1925 in East Liverpool, Ohio to Harley and Ethel Conley. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Harley, and husband Ralph. She loved and was so proud of her 4 children; John(Margaret), Harley(Joan), Ramon(Paula), and Mary(Don) Begley. Her greatest joy was to be surrounded by her 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Marcelene was a WWII bride and began her married life with Ralph in Corpus Christi, Tx on the Navy base. After the war, they moved to East Liverpool and then settled in Toledo. Marcelene was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church for over 65 years where she taught Sunday School and directed the children's choir for 35 years. After raising her children she returned to UT where she earned a Bachelor and Master's degrees in Education. She taught for Toledo Public Schools for over 25 years. Marcelene's deep faith and love of volunteerism led her to be a member of Palestine Eastern Star Chapter where she was organist and many other offices and was a Board member of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Her love of sewing, music, and children permeated every part of her life. She was lovingly known to many as "Bubbles" and shared her enthusiasm and loving spirit by always having room for one more wherever she went. Over the years she has kept in contact with many of her former students. As she went to events around Toledo, she was so often greeted by someone stopping and asking if she was the Ms. Butler who taught first grade and thanking her for teaching them to read. Heaven's choir sings brighter with Marcelene as its newest member. Her family is so saddened by her passing, but know that she was God's faithful servant during her time on earth and made all those she touched better people. The family will receive relatives and friends Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd on Wednesday December 28, 2016 from 2-5 pm and 6-8 pm with Palestine Chapter Eastern Star services at 7pm. A celebration of Marcelene's life will be at Bethel Lutheran Church 1830 South Avenue on Thursday December 29, 2016 at 11am. Entombment will take place at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. The family would like to thank her caregiver Annamae Turner for her love and care and Sara and Heather her Hospice nurses and the entire Hospice team. Remembrances for Marcelene can be made to the Music Fund at Bethel Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Please view and sign Mrs. Butler's condolence page at Berstickerscottfuneralhome.com
