Linda Edith (Graybill) Pomeroy passed away on September 5, 2024, at the age of 84. She is survived by two daughters, Leslie Pomeroy (Eileen Carroll) and Lisa Pomeroy, her sister Marilyn (Graybill) Reeder, brother Glenn (Maggie) Graybill, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Viola Graybill.
Linda was a proud and successful graduate of Libbey High School, and she fought valiantly to save that beautiful structure from its ultimate demolition. She also graduated from the Flower Hospital School of Nursing in 1964 and spent her career taking care of countless patients. Her courage and keen attention to detail allowed her to challenge diagnoses for the benefit of her patients, even when her opinion was not immediately embraced. She had immense mettle, which she displayed often in both her career and personal life.
Linda put her faith in God and her gift of courage to good use - teaching her daughters the importance of self-sufficiency, work ethic, compassion, and kindness. She taught them to respect and be kind to all animals, and she opened her home to many stray cats and dogs throughout her life.
All who knew Linda could not help but observe and enjoy her keen sense of humor and sharp intellect. She loved to learn and continued to do so her entire life. She worked on her undergraduate degree over the years at the University of Toledo, only a few credits short of receiving her diploma at the time of her passing. She enjoyed researching various topics along with her family's history and genealogy and assembled beautiful books filled with family history and photographs.
Linda was a talented gardener and artist, focusing mostly on oil paintings, pencil sketching, and pastel chalk drawings. She also played the organ and was an amazing cook and baker. She made delicious pies from scratch and would occasionally host pie-making classes for coworkers. She enjoyed vacationing in northern Michigan throughout her life, from childhood into her seventies.
Although she was not as social or outgoing late in life due to declining health, all who encountered her will remember her for her beauty and fashion sense, kindness, compassion, intelligence, sense of humor, and many talents. In lieu of flowers her daughters ask that you consider sending donations to NAMI Toledo, https://namitoledo.org/ or the Toledo Humane Society, https://toledohumane.org/.
