Karl Clinton Wood, K.C., to friends and family, 63, lived in Toledo, Ohio. He passed away January 14, 2013. K.C. was born to Florence E. Tegtmeyer and Paul A. Wood on December 15, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio. K.C. is preceded in death by his father, Paul A. Wood, his sister, Linda Wood Hawkins and his niece Carrie Hawkins. K.C. leaves behind two sons, Theodore Wood, California and Gary Wood (Michelene), Toledo, his mother, Florence, his brother Bill Wood, and sister-in-law Robin Wood, Key West, Florida, his Aunts, Leah Buschmann, Oregon, and Evelyn Garner, Holland, three grandchildren, Benjamin, Bailey and Isabella along with nephews Michael and Joshua as well as his many cousins and countless friends. As a young man, K.C. grew up in Point Place and attended Ottawa River Elementary School, Point Place Junior High and Macomber High School where he learned the trade of Tool & Die. K.C. earned a degree in Advanced Manufacturing Technology and was a Certified Journeyman Mold Maker. He worked for Dun Rite Industries for a number of years until he became one of the leading CadCam Specialists for Dana Corporation where he was an innovator and leader in the Cad Cam Industry. K.C. loved the art of being a craftsman in any endeavor. From injection molding to building a porch on his cottage or a work bench for his brother's shop, he built it well. Some called it "overbuilding". His brother Bill called it "built to last". K.C. was an accomplished cook, a passion from his mother and grandmother. And he LOVED the outdoors. He loved the days of snow skiing, but he loved the summers even more. He loved the Michigan lakes, he loved his cottage on Cub Lake, and he truly loved the Florida Keys where he and his wife would visit year after year for their scuba diving trips. He loved boating on any waters, fresh water or salt water. He loved water skiing on the Ottawa River and sailing on Lake Erie. It's hard to find a picture of K.C. with his shirt on in the summer time. He loved Ray's Hamburgers in Reading, Michigan. The drive from Toledo to Reading was always worth that burger. He loved his mini schnauzers, Mia, LooKey, Jessie and Buddy. He loved the race car scene. From a boy going to the Indy Time Trials, as a teenager racing his new 1968 Chevelle Supersport, to a grown man watching the Nascar Circuit, he loved the races. K.C. will be missed more than he could know. He was loved by all who knew him and admired by many from afar. K.C. preferred the casualness of life. Please feel free to dress casual for his memorial. A Memorial service K.C. will be held on Saturday January 26, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends after 11:00 A.M. at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd. The family suggests memorials to the Charity of the donor's choice. Please view and sign K.C.'s condolence book at berstickerscottfuneralhome.com
