Joan A. Matuszewski

Joan A. (Plewa) Matuszewski of South Toledo, passed away very peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at her daughter's home. Joan was born March 30, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio to Frank and Catherine (Sieja) Plewa. Joan attended St. Anthony and Whitney Vocational Schools, and has been a member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Parish since 1968, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Joan worked for Toledo Scale and Glass City Springs of Perrysburg, and volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital and the Stranahan Theater. Joan was proud of her perfect attendance of four years at Whitney Vocational and her award for typing 100 words a minute. Joan enjoyed spending time with family, attending church and helping others. Surviving is her daughter, Mary Ellen Clark. Joan was Grandma and Busia to Max, Meg and Matthew. On November 21, 1959, Joan married Eugene who pre-deceased her on June 21, 1975. Joan donated her body to the Department of Neurosciences at The University of Toledo, College of Medicine Anatomical Donation Program so she could continue to help others as she did her entire life. Family and friends will meet at 9:30am, Thursday, March 30, 2017 at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns with a Mass of Resurrection at 10am.
