James 'Roger' Hill

James "Roger" Hill James "Roger" Hill, age 79, passed away after a long illness on December 18, 2016, in Toledo, Ohio just five days short of his 80th birthday. Roger was born December 23, 1936 in Chicago, IL to parents Cannon H. and Esther A. (Nelson) Hill. He served in the Navy from 1955 to 1957 as a Radarman (RD3) on the USS Macon. Roger graduated from Southern Illinois University with an Associate's degree & started work for IBM. He joined Hubbell Corporation making connectors for Minuteman missiles; moving to Aiken, SC with Pyle National making outdoor lighting products. Roger retired as product development engineer at American Warming and Ventilation in Holland, OH (a Mestek company). His career with them spanned 29 years from plant manufacturing engineering to supervisor to manager of a factory in Wrens, GA. He was granted two patents for novel devices used to protect buildings and occupants from smoke and fire. Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Christa Anne (Hill) Hill; two daughters, Christa Faline Hill (Jim Rodman) and Kathryn Anne H. Ayers; son, Christopher Cannon (Carrie) Hill; grandchildren, Christa G. (Phil) Johnson and Soren M. Hill; and great-grandchildren, Christian Tyler and Caden Zachary; and cousins, Jackie Collette and James Darling. He is welcomed to heaven by his parents, two brothers; and son-in-law, Ronald Ayers. The Hill family will welcome guests on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. at Byrne Rd. with services to follow at 7 p.m. conducted by Rev. Anna Hunter. All are welcome to attend and honor Roger's life. The family asks that donations be made in Roger's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
