James Glanzman

James Russell Glanzman, 98, passed away peacefully at Ohio Living Swan Creek under hospice care, on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

James was born on July 8, 1925, in Toledo, OH. Graduated from Libbey High School, and was a military vet. Enlisting in the Army-Air Force and was based in Arizona. After World War II ended(he was in basic flight training) he returned to Toledo and met and married his future wife, Barbara (she died in December 2022). He worked and retired from the former Ohio Bell. He had 3 children: Jerry, Holly, & Jill.

A Long-time member of the church of St. Andrews, Jim enjoyed an active life. He loved attending his granddaughters' many choir concerts, softball games, and dance recitals. He enjoyed going out to eat on birthdays and special occasions, an avid Ohio State fan some of his highlights were flying on the Concorde (before it went out of service). Going to the Louisiana Superdome for an Ohio State Bowl Game and going to Arizona to see the Grand Canyon. He also liked to walk and sit outside.

3 children survive him; son Jerry (Diane), daughters Holly and Jill all of Toledo. 3 granddaughters; Amy, Ashlee (Macgregor), and Allison (Trey), 3 great-grandchildren; Knox, Joseph, and Scarlett.

Special thanks to Ohio Living Hospice nurses for their compassion in caring for our father and to Pat Yurista for her kindness and visits to hospice.

The family will receive friends at the Church of St. Andrews United Methodist at 3260 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH at noon on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Services will be held at 1:00 pm. The family suggests memorials to the Church of St. Andrew United Methodist Church.
