Jackie Wade Sloan Sr.

Jackie Ward Sloan Sr., 78, of Toledo passed away January 24, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Jackie was born on June 9, 1937 in Haydenburg, Tennessee. He was the son of Henry Rosco Sloan and Alice (Henson) Sloan. Jackie worked in the trucking industry for 20 years. In retirement he worked for the Toledo Blade. Jackie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was an avid member of Echo Meadows Church of Christ and Teamsters. Jackie enjoyed gardening in his leisure, and kept such a beautiful garden that he was voted the best garden in the neighborhood from Mayor Finkbeiner. Jackie was preceded in death by his sister Margaret June Sloan, and his brother George Victory Sloan. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline (Guhl) Sloan; his son, Jackie Sloan Jr.; his daughters, Jerianne Giguere, Jennifer Fogle; grandchildren, Tyler Sloan, Brody Sloan, Peyton Sloan, Corbyn (Jay) Krzeminski, Jessalyn Giguere, Gail Fogle IV; and his brother, Rubert L. Sloan. The family will receive friends and relatives at Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home at 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, Ohio 43614 at Bryne Road on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 4-8 pm and Friday, January 29, 2016 from 10-11:30 am where funeral service will be held on Friday, January 29 2016 at 11:30am.
