Herman Albert Bersticker Jr.

Herman A. Bersticker Jr. Herman A. Bersticker Jr., age 93, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 in Sunset Village. Herman was born on October 15, 1918 in Toledo, Ohio to Herman A. and Florence Marie (Wasmund) Bersticker. Herman was the former co-owner of the Bersticker Funeral Home, retiring in 1985 after forty-five years of service to the south Toledo community, when Charles & JoAnn Scott purchased it from them. Today it carries the name of Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home. Herman attended the University of Toledo, and was a graduate of the former Cleveland College of Embalming. Herman was a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII, serving 4 ½ years with the 148th Infantry, 37th Division, Headquarters Special Troops before being discharged in June of 1945. Herman was a long time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and, recently, Hope Lutheran Church, Barton Smith Lodge No. 613 F & AM (formerly Triad Lodge No. 708 F & AM) Scottish Rite, and Zenobia Shrine. .He was Past President of the Northwestern Ohio Funeral Directors and Past President of the Maumee Valley Hi-12 Club. Herman was preceded in death by his wife Wilma in 2005 and son Keith. Surviving are his son Neil (Carol) Bersticker, sister Jane Tank, grandchildren: Paul Bersticker, Kristin (Robert) Fox, Laura (Brian) Justice, and Brian (Beth) Bersticker. Also surviving are 4 great grandchildren and special companion Mary Louise Glen. The family will receive friends at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1825 Glendale Ave., Friday May 11, 2012 after 10:00 A.M. where services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Interment will immediately follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1825 Glendale Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43614.
