Helene Gertrude Meier Schlichting Helene Gertrude Meier Schlichting, born August 21, 1911 was called to be with the Lord on August 10th 2013. Preceding Helene was her husband Wendell of 69 years; parents the Rev. Martin and Gertrude Meier. Helene is survived by her two sons, Dean (Karen) Schlichting; Gene (Barbara) Schlichting; six grandchildren, LeeAnn Weir, Martin Schlichting, Jamison Schlichting, Stace Torio, Andrea Rigg, Nathan Warnock and fifteen great grandchildren. Helene was skilled in the art of writing, staying touch with extended family and friends. Helene had a zest for life, socializing and hearing about others always taking interest in their lives. Helene was a committed and involved member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in her earlier years and an active member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg for over 36 years. When unable to attend Zoar, she remained faithful through Bible studies and services at Wolf Creek. Helene loved music and dancing. Her appreciation of bridge continued every Monday at Wolf Creek where she resided more recently. A graduated of Wittenberg University provided her the education and avenue to become a social worker for the State of Ohio. The family will receive friends at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd Friday August 16, 2013 6-8 P.M. with a memorial service to be held Saturday August 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church 314 E. Indiana Ave Perrysburg, Ohio a private graveside service will be held in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
