George Wah Fong George W. Fong, 79 Maumee, Ohio, passed away Wednesday July 6, 2011 in his residence. Mr. Fong was born on September 21, 1931 in Kwatung, China. Mr. Fong came to the United States in 1950 and worked for the Kin Wa Low restaurant. He graduated from Scott High School and then returned to China and married his wife Sherri in 1958 in Hong Kong. They returned to the United States in 1959 and began working for the Surf Supper Club of which he eventually became one of the owners and retired in 1996. Mr. Fong was a member of the Yee Hong Association and the Asian Senior Resource Center. Surviving are his wife: Sherri, sons, Benson (Mary), Nelson, Wayne Fong, daughter, Sandra Fong, grandson, Ryan Fong, step-mother, Wan Fong, brothers, John (Madonna) Fong, Tom Fong, sisters, Pui Wan Dong, Linda (Roy) Hill, Joyce (Michael) Kosmatak, Helen (Russ) Jurski, also surviving are many Nephews and Nieces. Mr. Fong was preceded in death by his father, Wing Fong and mother, Tom See, brother, Hing Fong and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd on Sunday July 10, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. where a brief service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
