Frederick R. "Fred" Drews Jr. Frederick R. "Fred" Drews Jr., 95, of The Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee, Ohio and formerly a longtime resident of South Toledo, passed away April 15, 2015 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo Campus. Fred was born on April 25, 1919 in Toledo, Ohio to Frederick R. and Esther (Miller) Drews Sr. Fred was a graduate of Waite High School and served in the US Army Infantry during WWII where he was wounded during battle in Nancy, France and received a purple heart. Fred retired from Toledo Stamping as Vice President of Manufacturing where he began his career while he was in high school. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish on Lake Erie. Fred was a devoted grandfather to his three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Austin; sisters, Virginia Thomas and Jane Kelly; and brothers, Robert and John Drews. Surviving are his daughters, Marcia (Tony) Helman and Sandra (James) Hoesley; grandchildren, Matthew (Kyla) Hoesley, Mimi (Ben) Slater, and Connor Hoesley; and his great-grandchildren, Oliver and Eli Hoesley. The family will receive friends at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, located at 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd near Byrne Road, on Saturday, April 25, 2015 after 9:00 a.m. where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Ft. Meigs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
