Ellen Sue Peek, 70, of Uniontown Ohio passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024. She passed away at her daughter's home under the care of La Mision Palliative Care in Brownsville Texas after a brief illness. Ellen was born on December 18, 1953, in Toledo, Ohio to Richard D. and Helen E (Wagner) Gregory. Ellen was a 1971 graduate of Bowsher High School.
Ellen was a talented singer, traveling to many churches singing for revivals as a young mom. In 1990, she eagerly began the role of homeschooling mom of her two youngest children. For Ellen, this was a valuable part of her motherhood journey for fourteen years.
She found great purpose and satisfaction in serving others in need. She helped countless people through local churches, single moms, victims of dv and many others. After her children had grown, she enjoyed the friendships formed during her 11 years working at Kohl's (Canton, Ohio).
When her middle child entered the mission field to serve Deaf children in Mexico, Ellen launched an outreach to provide for the physical needs at the ministry. Since 2003, Ellen served as the volunteer coordinator of the clothing pantry at the Con Mis Manos Deaf Ministry in Matamoros, Tam. Mexico. Through her efforts, over 400 people annually receive clothing and other needed items free of charge still to this day.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Helen Gregory. Ellen is survived by her three children, Teresa Ann Peek, Michelle Lynn (Peek) Zuniga, Matthew Michael Peek, son-in-law Jesus Alberto, granddaughter Lizbeth Zuniga, sister Vickie Lynn (Gary) Weber, niece Brenda Cook, great-nephew Christopher as well as many cousins and other extended relatives.
The family will receive friends Saturday July 27, 2024, after 10:00 a.m. at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Road Toledo, Ohio 43614 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery Maumee, Ohio.
The family suggests memorials in Ellen's name be made to Workers for Mexico Mission www.workersformexico.org to support the ongoing work of the clothing pantry at Con Mis Manos Deaf ministry.
