Donna Jean Shaffer

Donna Jean Shaffer, 90 of South Toledo passed away February 5, 2016 in the Lutheran village at Wolf Creek. Donna was born on August 14, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Clare and Ilo (North) Beard. Mrs. Shaffer was a graduate of the University of Toledo with a Bachelor's degree in Education. Mrs. Shaffer worked for the Toledo public schools for 34 years teaching social studies and art at various intermediate and Jr High School levels, retiring from Leverette Jr High in 1984. Donna was a member of TEA (Toledo Education Association) and TFT (Toledo Federation of Teachers), Alpha Delta Kappa (Beta Chapter). Donna along with her daughter produced for 27 years cat shows at the Lucas co Rec Center. Donna was an avid Persian cat breeder with 30 grand champion cats and wins at the regional and national levels. Her memberships include the mid-Michigan, mid Indiana, mid-Ohio, mid-west Persian cat clubs. Donna was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving is her daughter Brenda (Joe) Snyder. A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 20, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church 708 South Erie Street at 11:00 A.M, Interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at wolf creek for the care that was shown to Donna, especially Brenda and Christie. The family suggests memorials to St John's Lutheran Church.
