Donald Coates

Donald A. Coates, 69, of South Toledo, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at The University of Toledo Medical Center after a brief illness with his family at his bedside. Born May 2, 1955, in Toledo, Ohio, to Alva and Pauline (Riley) Coates. Donald attended Libbey High School. Donald served on the US Navy's state side. Donald retired from the former MedCorp ambulance company as a driver in 2009. Donald attended Cedar Creek Church and was an usher on Lime City Road and Findlay campuses for several years. Donald was also involved with the Boys Scouts' Troop 111 Broadway united methodist church.

Donald was preceded in death by both of his parents, his brothers, Ronald Coates and Arnold (Bud) Coates, and his sister, Catherine Shuff. Surviving is his wife of 20 years, Brenda (Mozingo) Coates; daughters Misty Luna, Candice Coates, Sarah Solorio, Stephanie Pedigo; son, Daryl Coates; Stepchildren Lisa Chapman, Frank (Jen) Chapman, Kyle Chapman. Also surviving are 8 Grandchildren, Jacob and Daniel Coates, Olivia Pedigo, Ashawn Heard, Ariana McCreary, Amelia Grey, De'Ron Jr. Williams, LeeLand Chapman and 2 great-grandchildren Ezekiel and Malia Coates.

The family will receive friends at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Road, on Monday, March 24, 2025, after 12:00 p.m., where services will be held at 4:00 p.m., followed by military honors by the US Navy.
