Diana C. Waire

Diana C. Waire age 71 of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on Thursday June 16, 2022 after a 23 year battle with Huntington's Disease. Diana was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 1, 1951 to Richard and Joyce (Hanham) Long.

Diana was a 1969 graduate of E.L. Bowsher High School. She worked as a cashier for the former Seaway Foodtown stores for 16 years before retiring. Diana was a member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church where she also attended elementary school and married her husband. She loved going out to eat, shopping, gardening, camping, taking walks, traveling, going to the movies and playing Bunco with girlfriends. She played a very active role in her kids lives as a Brownie Leader, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Chaperone and driver for all of the school trips, cheerleading/football games and become a second Mom to many. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and Aunt Di to the neices and nephews which she loved as if they were her own. Her greatest joy in life was being with family.

Diana is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Larry Waire, daughter, Julie Waire (Chris Kaminski & Hannah Kaminski), brother, Timothy (Brenda) Long, nieces, nephews and cousins. Diana was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Waire, both parents and her brother, Daniel Long.

A special thank you to her care team at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for helping us through the last few months with kindness and compassion. To her doctors and social workers that took special care of her over the last 23 years, we thank you. To Jim and Michelle, thank you for the amazing gift of peace.

The family will receive friends at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd. on Saturday June 25, 2022, after 9:00 a.m. where services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to The Huntington Disease Society of America hdsa.org
