David S Philipps

David Shepard Philipps, 83, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2022 at Sunset Village in Sylvania, Ohio.
David was born in 1938 to Henry and Leona Philipps in Toledo, Ohio. After graduating from Scott High School in Toledo, David received a teaching degree from the University of Toledo. Later, he attended law school at the University of Michigan for his first year and then transferred to the University of Toledo, graduating with a law degree and practicing for 10 years before returning to his true passion of teaching English in the Toledo Public School System. After more than 40 years, David finished his teaching career at Bowsher High School.
David’s passion for learning never ended and he was always working on a project. An avid gardener, David was happiest spending time planning and cultivating the many gardens at his home.
David is survived by his brother, Henry Philipps; nephew, Hal (Laurie) Philipps; niece, Amy (Bill) Kallberg; great nieces, Reilly, Kelsey, Emma; great nephew, Denyil, many cousins and extended family.
A service will be held at Toledo Memorial Park on Saturday, April 9 at 10:00 AM. Memorial donations may be designated to the Toledo Zoo, 2 Hippo Way, Toledo, OH 43609. WWW.toledozoo.org/donate
