David East

David A. East, 68, of Toledo, Ohio passed away February 24, 2024, in St.

Vincent Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. David was born on July 12,

1955, in Toledo, Ohio to Louis and Doris (Pestner) East. He graduated from

E.L. Bowsher High School in 1974 and served a stint in the US Army. David

worked for Owens-Illinois then moved into the scale service and installation

business, working for several companies. He retired from Ashland Scale Co.

but still served as a repair and calibration consultant.

David was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is his wife of 39 years

Christine (Olwick) East, sister Laurel East, nieces Angela Bowers, Nicole

(Joseph) Wingard, Alexis (Justin Rowland) Norton, Blythe (Aaron) Kloshen

and nephew Kyle (Emily Keeping) Grose.

David was an avid science fiction reader and enjoyed games, puzzles,

working with his hands and solving mechanical challenges. He was a good

friend to many and an anchor to his loved ones. He will be deeply missed.

There will be no services. A celebration of life will be held later. Family

requests gifts in David's name be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
