Dale Michael Sickmiller

Dale Michael Sickmiller, 61, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on the morning of September 1,2019 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio, after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born on August 2, 1958 at Heller Memorial Hospital in Napoleon, Ohio to loving parents Burl Dale Sickmiller and Amelia May Sickmiller (Gasche).
Dale's family moved to a farm in Wauseon, Ohio before he started school. He and his siblings enjoyed treks through the fields and woods, searching for artifacts and arrowheads, which were indeed found. There, in that natural setting, his lifelong love of nature began. Throughout his childhood, he enjoyed camping adventures, campfires and watching the wildlife (and livestock) that surrounded him. He was in cub scouts, then boy scouts where he honed his skills as the outdoorsman, he would be for the rest of his natural life. He also loved canoeing, sports and traveled extensively by car so that he wouldn't miss anything on the way. Maybe that is also why he loved Nascar Auto Racing.
Dale attended Wauseon High School and later got his GED; he had a thirst for knowledge which he learned from life experiences. He travelled to many different states, sometimes just for a road trip or a mini vacation; California, the Rocky Mountain states, to Minnesota, Michigan and Indiana, to name a few. His most recent travel was for vacation in Florida. His path always carried him home to the Wauseon area. Texas and Kentucky caught a lot of his attention as well. There he stayed and worked at different times in his life. Cumberland Falls in Kentucky was "a piece of heaven", he said. He was very fortunate to share that with his daughters and son and to return there with his sister this year.
He worked his entire adult life, until his condition finally slowed him down. He married twice and had three beautiful children. He loved his children dearly and especially loved the fact that he was a grandfather to three adorable little girls, Cherish, Phoebe and Khloe.
In addition to his parents, Burl and Amelia Sickmiller (Gasche), he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sickmiller and his daughter, Dale Michelle Sickmiller.
Surviving is his daughter, Phelicia Talley (Sickmiller) of Riverdale, Georgia; Son Bradley Sickmiller of Bangor, Maine; Stepdaughter Chloe Robinson of Maumee, Ohio; Sister Cathy Hicks, of Toledo, Ohio; Brother Evan Sickmiller (Char) of Weeki Wachee, Florida; Sister Faith Sidney (Patrick) of Bryan, Ohio; Uncle John Gasche of Napoleon, Ohio; 3 Granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and friends.
