Charlotte Rose Harris

Charlotte Rose Harris Charlotte Rose Harris, 87, of Toledo passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010. She had been a resident of Lake Park Care Center since 2007. Charlotte was born on February 28, 1923 in Vance County, North Carolina to Casper and Lillian Critcher. She married James E. Harris on March 17, 1944 in Oxford, North Carolina. They moved to Jim's hometown, Toledo, in 1946. Charlotte worked for Ashland Ave. Baptist Church for 32 years retiring at the end of 1993. Most of those years she served as the Secretary/Office manager. Charlotte was a very active member of Ashland Ave Baptist Church for 60 years. She was the first choir mother for the youth choirs and started the Choir Guild. Charlotte also was well known for baking a variety of wonderful pies from scratch. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Casper and Lillian Critcher and her husband, James E. Harris. She is survived by her sister, Mary Alice Howard of Oxford, N.C., sons, Richard G. (Anne) Harris of King of Prussia, PA., David L. (Nancy) Harris of Toledo, OH. Douglas L. (Carol) Harris of Chicago, Il., grandchildren, Ericka H. (Darryl) Racca of Huntington Beach, Ca., Scott D. Harris of Brentwood, Tn., Susan N. Harris of Chicago, Il., Sarah M. Harris of Chicago, Il., Laura M. (Josiah) Harris-Adam of Chicago, Il., great grandson, Carter S. Harris also surviving are several nieces and Nephews. The memories Charlotte blessed us with will be cherished and she will be truly missed by everyone who touched her life. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of the staff at Lake Park and especially the 3rd floor staff who gave such loving, excellent care for her in the past 3 years. Friends will be receive from 3-5 & 7-9 P.M. on Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd at Byrne Rd. Where funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday September 4, 2010 with Pastor Ed Sladek officiating. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Charlotte memory to Ashland Baptist Church, 2350 Starr Ave. Oregon, Ohio 43616 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
