Ardis Eileen Wollenweber

Ardis Eileen (Leininger) Wollenweber, 95, passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by her loving family on May 12, 2017. Born March 6, 1922 in Tedrow, Fulton County, Ohio, to the late Albert and Edith (Donnel) Leininger. Ardis, the oldest of 5 children, graduated from Libbey High School in 1940 and married George Wollenweber on September 5, 1941. They were married for 70.5 years before he passed away in 2012. Ardis' first job was waitressing in Tiedtke's lunch room. She was a long-time member of Arlington Ave. Lutheran and Hosanna Lutheran Church. Ardis brought joy to everyone who was privileged to know her and she was considered "Mom" by many. Ardis was well-known for the cookies she would often bake for relatives, friends and neighbors. She was an excellent seamstress and, in her later years, began a greeting card ministry, sending out hundreds of cards to family and friends. She had an amazing ability to remember faces and names and hosted parties for over 50 years in the same home she and her husband built. They traveled extensively, spent many winters in Florida and enjoyed flying in their private airplane which George piloted. Those who survive to cherish her memory are: daughters, Carol Knoblauch, Nancy Sheets, Janet (Ted) Wymyslo; grandchildren, Brian (Kate) Knoblauch, Amanda (Justin) Ballard, Joanna (Bill) Milleson, Bev (Dan) Breyman; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Abigail, and Lyla Ballard, Lucas and Audrey Breyman and expected baby girl Milleson. She is also survived by her sister Ramona McNeese, brothers, Albert and Paul (Charlotte) Leininger, sister-in-law Carol Leininger as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Her husband, parents and brother Kenneth Leininger pre-decease her. The family will receive guests at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, Ohio on Friday, May 19 from 3 to 8 p.m. where a service will be held on May 20 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
