David Young

David D. Young 91, of Hilliard, Ohio formerly a life long South Toledo

resident passed away January 21, 2024 in Dublin Methodist Hospital

after a brief illness with his family at his bedside. Born January 9, 1933

in China to Charles and Eng Shee (Eng) Young. David was a graduate of

the University of Toledo with BS and Master's Degree in Civil

Engineering. David was in Tau Beta Pi Honor Society and a

Professional Engineer (P.E.).

David worked for the City of Toledo Division of Engineering and

Construction since 1965, and prior to that was an engineer in training

and an assistant project engineer for the Ohio Department of

Transportation in the Civil Engineering Department. David retired from

the public sector in 1988. David also worked in the private sector after

retirement as an Engineer for Mannik and Smith Group retiring in 2001.

David enjoyed spending time with his family; traveling, especially

cruises several times per year; serving the community and ballroom

dancing with his wife Bernice. David was a member of the Yee Hing

Hong Relief Association and served as President in the early 1990's.

Surviving is his Wife of 62 years Bernice (Lim) Young, daughter, Elaine

Young, sons, Dr. Eugene (Amy) Young, Eddie (Amy) Young, brother,

William (Teresa) Eng, Kenneth (Wenny) Young, grandchildren, Thomas

(Hannah), Joseph, Isabelle Young.

The family will receive friends at The Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home

Monday January 29, 2024, after 11:00 a.m. where services will be held

at 12:00 Noon. Followed by a private burial at Historic Woodlawn

Cemetery. There will be a reception to be held at Hong Kong Buffet on

Glendale Ave. The family suggests memorials to The Yee Hing Hong

Relief Association; 2223 S. Reynolds Rd; Toledo, OH 43614.
