James Verner Jr.
James Verner Jr, age 82 of Toledo, Ohio passed away Monday January 3, 2011 in his residence. Jim was born August 10, 1928 in Wilkensburg, Pennsylvania to James and Ethel (Seaver) Verner. Jim was a graduate of the former DeVilbiss High School in 1947 and a 1951 graduate of the University of Toledo with a Bachelor’s of Art’s. Jim received his Master’s in 1952 from the University of Toledo being the first to receive an advance degree in finance. Jim served in the United Sates Army from 1952 to 1954 as a Combat Engineer. Jim’s hobbies included fishing, hunting and target shooting.
His first wife Olive Jane Verner preceded Jim in death in 1959. He married Ann (Harrop) in 1961, Surviving are his son, James (Susan) Verner III, Daughter, Mary (John R.) Verner-Bates, Granddaughter, Martha Verner, Sister, Mary (Allan) Cranston.
The family will receive friends at the Walker Funeral 5155 Sylvania, Ave ( West of Corey Rd) Wednesday January 5, 2010 from 3-7 P.M. Funeral services will be held in St. Michael’s in The Hills Episcopal Church On Thursday January 6, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
